Role: Design LeadTask: Integrate new features, simplify navigation, and improve overall design
is a mobile payment application that enables customers to open, view, and pay bar or restaurant tabs from their smartphones. The app integrated with the hospitality POS systems and allowed the restaurants to target their customers directly with personalized promotional offers. They were looking to redesign the entire app while adding more capability and features for their users.
The first steps on improving the app were to introduce different initial UX methods. These methods included user research, creating user personas and scenarios, performing competitive analysis of rival products, and conducting a heuristic evaluation of the app. Some of the new features that were to be added included an interactive map view, additional promotional rewards, new payment options, split tab capabilities, Uber/Lyft deeplinking, and social sharing. The rest of the existing app required a complete redesign as well as the navigation and user flows to help give the app a more streamlined experience.
To achieve this I helped create comprehensive UI deliverables such as wireframes, screen flows, interactive mock ups, a design assets library, and user interface style guidelines. These elements were used by the development team once the designs were pushed into production. I applied lean UX and agile methodologies to the teams workflows. During production I collaborated with the dev team to address any issues that came up in the scrum process to do reviews and offer guidance as things were being built. My other tasks included putting together their corporate branding
guide, contributing to presentations and promotional materials for marketing, and giving creative direction to the data science team for their CRM tool.
